Welcome to the website of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. We are located in the Diocese of Central Florida in the lovely community of DeLand, Florida. This year we are celebrating our 127th anniversary. We hope that this website will be a way for you to discover our wonderful parish. The website offers information and resources for all visitors, members and newcomers who are interested to know more about our parish and its mission and ministries. When I was a small boy I remember learning a simple rhyme that had accompanying hand gestures. Interlocking our fingers in front of us, our hands tightly closed, we would say, "This is the church, this is the steeple, open the doors and see all of the people." We gradually opened our hands and wiggled all of our fingers enthusiastically. This was always great fun and brought joy to the teller and to the listener. This website serves the same purpose in a special way. While we love and admire our church buildings and grounds, we know that the church is a community of people who have accepted Jesus' invitation to "Come follow me!" As you make your way through the various pages of this website you will discover that St. Barnabas Episcopal Church is a Christian community in action- serving, worshipping, learning, sharing, fellowshiping, caring and stewarding God's resources for the sake of his kingdom. Think of each page as a window into the life of our community through which you can see the life of God incarnate within us.
